The Punjab government has started the delivery of ATM cards for the Ramzan Nigehban Package to facilitate smooth and dignified disbursement of financial assistance to deserving families.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed gratitude on the launch of the Nigehban ATM cards saying that under the Ramzan Nigehban Package financial aid worth Rs40 billion will be provided to 4 million households across the province.
She said that the initiative aims to ensure easy access to assistance without long queues or hardship.
According to the Chief Minister the entire payment system under the package is fully digital and transparent ensuring timely and fair distribution of funds. The Punjab Information Technology Board has developed the digital framework of the program with transparency ensured at every stage.
To further facilitate beneficiaries 160 special centers have been established in each tehsil for the Ramzan Nigehban Package. Maryam Nawaz said the mission is to ensure that no family feels alone during the holy month of Ramzan and that the blessings of Ramzan Kareem reach every household.
She also announced that financial assistance under the ration card scheme has been increased from Rs3,000 to Rs10,000 per month during Ramzan. Additionally millions of fasting individuals will be provided daily iftar through Nigehban Dastarkhwan in every tehsil of Punjab while essential commodities will be made available at subsidized rates at Sasta Bazaars throughout the holy month.
What is the Ramzan Nigehban Card?
The scheme allows beneficiaries to receive cash assistance and purchase essential items from designated vendors.
District administrations will distribute the cards door to door, while 136 activation centres have been set up across Punjab.
Cardholders can also activate their cards at Bank of Punjab ATMs and withdraw cash through branchless banking agents or the One Link network.
How will public support be provided?
In addition to cash support, eight “Nigehban Dastarkhwan named as Maryam ke Mehman” will operate in every tehsil, serving iftar to up to 2,000 fasting individuals daily.
Officials from the Punjab Food Authority, along with commissioners, deputy commissioners, and assistant commissioners, will monitor the arrangements.
