Senior doctors of PIMS and the Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital Rawalpindi, have revealed their report on the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan.
A specialised medical team, including senior doctors from Al-Shifa International and PIMS, conducted a complete and detailed examination of Imran Khan inside Adiala Jail.
Sources revealed that the assessment involved a thorough ophthalmic evaluation and necessary procedures.
According to the doctors, Imran Khan’s vision has shown improvement. The medical team is fully satisfied with the ongoing treatment, noting positive progress in reducing swelling and enhancing clarity in the affected right eye.
The expert ophthalmologists also provided a detailed briefing of more than one and a half hours to opposition leaders and Imran Khan’s personal physicians, sharing insights into the examination results and treatment trajectory.
Noreen Khan shares latest update
The sister of Imran Khan took to her X handle, shared latest update. She that “On Sunday afternoon, Imran Khan’s medical examination was conducted inside Adyala Jail. A heavy ambulance specially equipped with a slit lamp, OCT scan machine, and full facilities was also rushed to the spot.”
She further said that “Dr. Arif (PIMS) and Dr. Nadeem Qureshi (Al-Shifa) conducted a physical examination inside the jail. Later, they briefed senior doctors, including Dr. Asim Yousaf and Dr. Mirza, about their report, who participated through a conference call. Barrister Gohar is also aware of all the developments.”:
“According to initial reports! Swelling has decreased. Vision is improving. No major complications have emerged so far,” she added.
Imran Khan to be shifted to hospital soon
The federal government earlier decided to transfer Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, to a hospital.
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that the government has taken this decision in view of Imran Khan’s health.
In a tweet, he said, “The government prioritises humanitarian compassion and legal requirements. Providing facilities to every prisoner in accordance with the law is the government’s responsibility.”
“Politics should not be done on sensitive matters like health. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should refrain from baseless propaganda or political point-scoring”, he added.
Imran Khan’s eye condition
Safdar, was the first visitor to Khan in seven weeks. He reported that his client’s condition was identified as a blood clot in his right eye. That resulted in significant damage that has left him with impaired vision.
He submitted a report outlining Khan’s condition to Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan.
According to Safdar, Khan was left “visibly perturbed and deeply distressed by the loss of vision and the lack of timely and specialised medical care.”
He requested that his client be evaluated by a team of expert ophthalmologists, be allowed to see his family, and have improved prison conditions.
The court decided that Khan should be permitted to consult with his personal physicians in Adiala Jail, where he is currently held, and be allowed to make phone calls to his sons, Kasim and Sulaiman.
