The wife of Iran’s current Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, Zahra Haddad Adel, was laid to rest in Tehran on the first day of the funeral ceremonies for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to international media reports, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was unable to attend his wife’s funeral prayers after Iran’s security agencies reportedly did not grant him the necessary security clearance.
Following the announcement of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s funeral, Israel issued a statement warning that it would target Iran’s leadership.
Reports said that Mojtaba Khamenei was at the top of Israel’s alleged target list. According to the reports, he has not made any public appearances since assuming his position.
Zahra Haddad Adel
She was martyred in the Israeli strike on February 28,. It was the same attack in which her father in law, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and several of his associates were killed.
Zahra Haddad Adel was the daughter of Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel. He is a prominent Iranian conservative politician and former Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, or the Majlis.
Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel is regarded as one of the closest political allies of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
He has long been a leading figure within Iran’s conservative political establishment. And has held several senior government and academic positions over the years.
Iranian FM spokesperson appreciates Pakistan’s role
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has praised Pakistan’s role in regional diplomacy. He said relations between Pakistan and Iran are based on mutual trust and longstanding friendship.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with a Pakistani TV channel, Baghaei said the trust between the two neighbouring countries is mutual. He addded that Iran would not have accepted Pakistan’s mediation without that confidence.
He thanked the government and people of Pakistan for their support, saying Tehran highly appreciates their efforts.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on Friday with a high-level Pakistani delegation to attend the funeral ceremony of Iran’s Supreme Leader, the martyred Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
