Tecno has introduced the Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro in several African markets, weeks before their expected presentation at Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month.
Both devices share most of their core specifications, with the Pro variant offering a curved display and an additional telephoto camera.
Design, display
The Tecno Camon 50 Pro features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1208 x 2644 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen is curved and includes an under-display optical fingerprint scanner.
The standard Camon 50 uses the same 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with identical resolution, refresh rate, selfie camera and fingerprint sensor. However, it comes with a flat display instead of a curved one.
Both models are available in Moonlight Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist and Mint Cream. The Pro model also comes in an additional Ethereal Blue colour.
Processors, software
The two phones are powered by MediaTek’s Helio G200 Ultimate chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
They run HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and are promised up to three major Android upgrades. Tecno has also included its AI software features. Both devices carry IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
Camera setup
On the rear, both phones feature a 50MP main camera using Sony’s LYT700C 1/1.56-inch sensor with optical image stabilisation. An 8MP ultrawide camera is also included.
The Camon 50 Pro adds a third 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, offering additional flexibility for zoom photography. Both models have a 32MP front-facing camera.
Battery, price
Each device comes with a 6,150mAh battery and supports 45W wired charging.
The Camon 50 is priced at $290, while the Camon 50 Pro starts at $341.
