Iran and Pakistan have reiterated their dedication to enhancing agriculture and bilateral trade in agricultural products, representing a crucial advancement in fortifying economic connections and regional food security.

Rana Tanveer Hussain, the Minister for National Food Security and Research, on Tuesday, emphasised the importance of improved technical collaboration, sharing of expertise, and reinforced coordination among pertinent departments and research institutions in both Pakistan and Iran.

The agreement was established during the visit of Iran’s Minister of Agriculture, H.E. Mr. Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, who is presently on an official visit to Pakistan.

In high-level discussions with Pakistani officials, both parties consented to expedite progress on essential agricultural agreements and improve cooperation across various sectors of the agricultural industry.

A significant development includes the advancement of the process to finalize the export of Pakistani corn to Iran, a decision anticipated to benefit farmers and exporters from both nations.

Furthermore, the two countries have agreed to facilitate increased imports of rice, meat, and other agricultural products, with the goal of ensuring stable supply chains and balanced trade growth.

Officials underscored that enhanced agricultural trade would not only bolster economic partnerships but also reinforce food security in the region.
