When will be the next Basant in Punjab?

Basant celebrations in Punjab

The Punjab government had announced Basant earlier for three days on 6th, 7th and 8th February. After the Basant, there were speculations that the Punjab government was going to announce Basant celebrations again.

However, there is no such thing going to happen this year. The provincial minister of Punjab for information and culture has confirmed that the next Basant will be celebrated in February 2027. She also urged citizens to stop spreading misleading and fake news about Basant celebrations this year.

She also said that there is no recommendation about Basant being discussed currently. Azma Bukhari also revealed that some people last week in two different cities of Punjab celebrated Basant, but the government did not take any strict action against them.

At the same time, the information and culture minister also warned of strict action if someone tried to celebrate Basant or violate the rule in Punjab.

Azma Bukhari also acknowledged that Basant’s craze still exists. She also said that it’s true that everyone liked Basant and assured that the next year, Basant will be celebrated in Punjab on a larger scale.

Basant in Quetta

Earlier, Quetta — the capital of Balochistan — had also started celebrating the Basant festival with traditional enthusiasm and spirit.

The district administration and police had issued guidelines, asking citizens to celebrate Basant in a safe and peaceful manner and strictly avoid aerial firing.

From February 13 to 15, authorities will organise different events across Quetta, including kite flying, music and local cultural activities.

Markets across the city are witnessing a sharp increase in the sale of kites, strings and other Basant-related items, creating unusual hustle and bustle. Shopkeepers say kite sales have risen in recent days, and the youth appear highly excited about the festival.
