Good news for patients as the Punjab government has decided to establish regular filter clinics at three major government hospitals in Rawalpindi to cope with the growing influx of patients and strengthen the healthcare response system.
Filter clinics will be set up at Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto General Hospital and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital, according to media reports.
The proposed filter clinics will be modelled on the system implemented at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), ensuring that patients are properly screened and directed to the appropriate departments for timely treatment.
Summary seeking funds for medical equipment forward
A summary seeking funds for medical equipment and the construction of waiting area buildings has been forwarded to the Punjab government.
The Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department has requested the Chief Minister to expedite approval of the project, including the design of the new facilities and the recruitment of specialist doctors and support staff for each department.
Demand of Rs 500m submitted for Holy Family Hospital
Holy Family Hospital, currently operating 3,052 beds, recently underwent renovation for Rs 60 billion.
The Punjab government has also approved Rs 400 million for the purchase of surgical equipment for 25 operating theatres.
Furthermore, a demand of Rs 500 million has been submitted for the establishment of filter clinics, construction of waiting areas, and procurement of essential equipment at the hospital.
Funding requests made for BBGH, RTH
Similar funding requests have been made for Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (BBGH) and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital (RTH) to ensure the establishment of filter clinics and the provision of necessary infrastructure and equipment. Officials said initial work on the project has already commenced.
The decision aims to reduce the mounting pressure on emergency wards and outpatient departments (OPDs) by introducing a streamlined patient management system.
