The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has arranged 300 temporary shops at the Polo Ground for traders affected by the recent Gul Plaza tragedy, aiming to help them resume business activities during the Holy month of Razman.
A temporary marketplace has been established by installing tents to accommodate shopkeepers displaced by the incident.
Electricity will be provided by KMC, while water supply and sanitation facilities have also been arranged for both traders and customers. Additionally, 50 city wardens will be deployed to ensure security at the site.
Mayor visits Polo Ground
Mayor Murtaza Wahab and Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Shah visited the Polo Ground to review the arrangements for the affected traders.
Speaking to the media, Nasir Shah said the Sindh government has provided free spaces to victims at two or three different locations across the city.
He added that the temporary stalls and ground arrangements are intended to facilitate traders in restarting their businesses as soon as possible.
Mayor Murtaza Wahab stated that 350 stalls have been prepared temporarily to enable Gul Plaza victims to continue their commercial activities during Ramadan. He noted that these interim arrangements will remain in place until the reconstruction of the plaza is completed.
Meanwhile, Friday marks the final day for citizens to submit information to the Gul Plaza Tragedy Judicial Commission. Sources said several individuals have already contacted the commission through letters and emails. After a preliminary review, the commission will decide whether to summon individuals for further proceedings.
The Judicial Commission has also set up a dedicated email address to receive information from the public as part of its ongoing inquiry into the tragedy.
