Pakistani actor and director Iqbal Hussain recently visited a television show along with his wife veteran actress Bushra Ansari, where his words about his personal preferences sparked widespread reactions.
During the appearance in Shaan-e-Sahoor with Nida Yasir he said he has always looked up to older women and had once wished to marry somebody who was older than him.
He made a joke that he used to tell his friends that their sisters were safe from him, but they should “hide their mothers,” a statement that caused big reactions online.
He also told that he had been a huge fan of Bushra Ansari and once saw her worried but got too shy to approach her.
He came out and said that when he did, in fact, propose to her, he was serious about building a life together.
The comments and in particular the light-hearted but bold statements, came under severe backlash on social media, with many people questioning his manner of speaking.
Some users were comparing his current marriage to his previous one, whereas others expressed how they were not comfortable with the way the subject was addressed in a transmission during the month of Ramadan.

Other people criticised what he said about “hiding mothers” saying that it was inappropriate.
