A massive fire that erupted on the hill of Sobra City Hill Club near Tarbela Dam has been burning uncontrollably for over 18 hours. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
The blaze, which started near Grid 5 of the dam, spread rapidly and has approached a major transmission line of the National Grid, raising concerns over potential disruptions to the power supply.
Fire brigade teams from Tarbela Dam and TMA Ghazi are actively engaged in firefighting operations, but the fire has already engulfed a wide area, destroying valuable trees, livestock and wildlife.
The district administration has urged the public to avoid the affected area and not approach the scene unnecessarily, citing safety concerns. Efforts to contain the fire are ongoing.
Authorities stated that rescue and firefighting operations will continue until the fire is fully brought under control. The mountainous terrain is posing significant challenges for the rescue teams, who are working tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading further.
The intensity of the fire remains high in some areas, and it will take time to achieve complete control. Rescue teams are making steady efforts to contain the blaze step by step, while the forest department and local volunteers continue working on extinguishing it.
