Pakistan Railways has announced a large number of job vacancies as part of its 2026 recruitment drive.

To address the problem of a shortage of technical and commercial staff, the department is going to fill these positions.

This will also help to ensure smoother and more reliable services for the passengers.

Pakistan Railways’ latest jobs 2026

Railway authorities have said that 74 train guards will be recruited to strengthen management and operations.

According to the details, these appointments will be made across seven divisions of the Pakistan Railways.

The maximum age for applicants for the 14 grade post has been set at 25 years. Further details will be shared by Pakistan Railways later.

Pakistan Railway: ticketless travel

Meanwhile, ticketless travel on trains continues to cause financial losses. Reports show the problem is increasing. This is especially true on trains operating between nearby cities.

In the first 15 days of this month, Pakistan Railways teams in the Lahore Division caught 1,829 ticketless travellers.

These passengers were fined and asked to pay their fares. This resulted in a total collection of over 2.4 million rupees.

Despite measures by the Commercial Department and Railway Police, the problem has not been fully controlled.

Pakistan Railways continues to face financial losses due to ticketless travel.

Islamabad-Rawalpindi fast rail announced

The federal government has announced a new high speed railway service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The service will reduce travel time between the twin cities to just 20 minutes instead of the travel taking hours.

It is also expected to make commuting faster, easier, and more comfortable for thousands of passengers.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement while inaugurating a new electric bus depot and charging centre in Islamabad.
