FIFA World Cup video game to launch on Netflix on June 11

Netflix is set to make its largest entry into the gaming sector with the launch of FIFA World Cup Launch Edition on June 11.

Developed by Delphi Interactive, known for 007 First Light, in partnership with Netflix Games and FIFA, FIFA World Cup is a simplified football simulation game. It only requires a Netflix account on your TV and a phone to serve as the controller.

This game aims to be much more accessible for beginners compared to the traditional FIFA games that were created during FIFA’s long-standing partnership with Electronic Arts, which has now ended.

The game will launch alongside the real FIFA Men’s World Cup on June 11, allowing players to choose from any of the 48 teams in the tournament, play in any of the 16 actual stadiums, and control any of the 1,248 players participating in the Cup.

FIFA World Cup video game for free with Netflix subscription

As with all of Netflix’s games, this one is included for free with a Netflix subscription and does not feature any in-game purchases.

Players can earn in-game currency based on their gameplay and daily challenges, which can be used to improve their team members’ stats.

After this year’s World Cup concludes, the game will continue to develop, with plans for updates related to next year’s Women’s World Cup.

A full launch scheduled for June 11 along with a limited test of the game will start in Brazil on Thursday in all regions that support Netflix’s TV gaming feature, including the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, South Africa, Sweden, and Switzerland.
