The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority has taken an important step to protect the rights of teachers by making written contracts mandatory for teachers in private educational institutions across the province.
According to a notification issued by KPPSRA to all private schools it will now be compulsory to sign a formal written agreement with a teacher before appointment.
The contract will clearly mention the teacher’s salary, working hours and duties.
The notification further states that details regarding leave, duration of employment and termination conditions must also be included in writing.
One copy of the contract will be provided to the teacher while the other will be kept in the school’s records.
The Private Schools Regulatory Authority warned that strict legal action will be taken under the PSRA Act against schools found violating these directives.
