The costly prime land of 43.11 acres, which belongs to Pakistan Railways, has been retrieved.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi has recovered property belonging to Pakistan Railways located at Survey Numbers 48, 49, 50, and 51 in Deh Khanto, Juma Goth, Karachi.
The land, measuring 43.11 acres and valued at Rs 9,671 million, has now been restored to the department’s physical possession.
Recovery marks culmination of investigative process starts in July 13, 2019
The recovery marks the culmination of a sustained investigative process that began on July 13, 2019, following allegations that government land had been encroached upon by private textile mills.
Although the inquiry was temporarily closed after a decision by the Supreme Court, it was reopened in 2025 at the request of Pakistan Railways.
The renewed investigation focused on officials from the Railway and Revenue Departments, along with other individuals allegedly involved in the continued encroachment.
While Pakistan Railways maintained that possession had been secured in 2021 in compliance with the Supreme Court’s orders, NAB’s findings established that private textile mills were still in actual occupation of the property.
Through continued investigation and coordinated efforts, NAB finalised the inquiry and ensured the successful recovery and handover of the land to Pakistan Railways.
This recovery marks a significant achievement for the National Accountability Bureau, reflecting the dedication and professionalism of its officers in carrying out their official responsibilities. By reclaiming high-value state land and returning it to the public sector, NAB has reinforced its credibility and strengthened its standing as a leading institution in combating the illegal occupation of government property.
