As Eid ul Fitr 2026 approaches, people are wondering where to get fresh bank notes for distribution of Eidi amongst their love ones.
many Pakistanis are once again preparing for one of the most cherished traditions of the festive period of the year, known as Eidi.
The practice of giving cash gifts to children and younger relatives and even close family friends by the elders is a long-standing and much-loved tradition.
For many, giving and receiving Eidi in fresh crisp currency notes is another reason for feeling the joy and spirit of the occasion.
However, getting new banknotes has often proved to be a tricky and sometimes frustrating activity in some years past for citizens.
To help the people, ahead of Eid, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is expected to release new banknotes through almost 17,000 commercial bank branches in the country in the coming days.
This wide-spread distribution is to facilitate convenience of new currency notes for the customers on a country-wide basis.
So far, the central bank has not introduced any special system and dedicated mechanism particularly for fresh note distribution.
Citizens can reach their respective bank branches with their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), and ask for fresh currency notes which will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
To ensure transparency and smooth operations the SBP has deployed cash monitoring teams to monitor the distribution process.
Apart from this, ATMs will also distribute clean and good quality notes during the festive season.
According to the bank officials, there is no clearly defined procedure at present for the acquisition of new notes.
Customers who have a good relationship with their branch manager may have better chances of getting the desired amount of currency.
It is advisable that the customer should come to his/her bank branch and inform the branch manager about his/her requirement of fresh money.
Customers may also change their existing cash for new notes on a one to one basis, meaning that they will receive the same amount in new currency as the amount deposited.
For any further details, the customers are urged to contact their respective bank branches.
