A protest has been called in the federal capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, against the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei tomorrow, on Friday, after prayers.
Due to the expected protest, security in Islamabad has been put on high alert.
Containers have been brought to the Red Zone, and preparations are underway to close important routes across the city.
Islamabad protest: Red zone ‘completely sealed’
The Islamabad administration has also decided to completely seal the Red Zone, which is one of the most important parts of the city.
Security around Parliament, the Diplomatic Enclave, and other important government buildings has been tightened further as well.
Security has also been increased at Imambargahs and other religious places in the city.
Police ranges and law enforcement agencies have been instructed to remain on high alert.
Islamabad protest tomorrow
Additional security personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations. The monitoring of entry and exit routes has also been tightened in the city.
Due to the expected protest, containers have been moved to different locations in the city.
It has been decided to deploy heavy security around the Red Zone and its surrounding areas.
A security plan has been prepared in view of security concerns. The administration is taking strict measures to maintain law and order.
Islamabad routes during protest
The protest rally is expected to start after Friday prayers on March 6, 2026, from G 6/2 Imambargah to D Chowk.
Road closures and traffic diversions are expected around the Red Zone, G 6, Aabpara, and D Chowk.
Placement of containers will begin at Fazal e Haq Road near G 6 Imambargah on March 5 at 2 pm.
Commuters have been requested to avoid these areas to prevent inconvenience.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei martyred in US strike
The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been martyred in the strikes conducted by the United States (US), according to the Iranian state media report.
Iranian state media reported that Khamenei “was carrying out his assigned duties and was present at his workplace (his office)”.
“This cowardly attack occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning”, state media further stated.
Prior to this, the President of the US, Donald Trump, had said that Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei had been killed in strikes.
In addition to this, a 40 day long public mourning has been announced in Iran according to the state media reports, after the Supreme Leaders martydom.
