Popular Pakistani Actress Momina Iqbal and religious scholar Nasir Madni are now involved in a growing dispute after the actress sent him a legal notice over alleged defamatory remarks, according to reports on Wednesday.
According to the details, Momina Iqbal demanded an explanation, a public apology, and the removal of content that she says has damaged her reputation, dignity, and professional career.
The step has been taken through her lawyer, Advocate Adnan Ahsan Khan.
According to the legal notice, certain statements made by Nasir Madni fall under defamation, and they should be immediately withdrawn.
The notice also stated that further legal action can be taken if the demands are not met within the given time.
Momina Iqbal’s reaction
Prior to this, in a series of social media posts, Momina Iqbal accused Nasir Madni of making allegations without evidence and questioned his credibility as a representative of Islamic teachings.
She stated that harming a person’s dignity and honour through unsubstantiated accusations is a serious wrongdoing. The actress also called for greater accountability.
Before issuing the legal notice, Momina Iqbal strongly reacted to Nasir Madni’s comments through an Instagram Story.
The actress said she would be vindicated in both worldly and divine courts because only she and Allah know the truth behind the accusations. She also stated that she would not forgive Nasir Madni.
In her post, Momina Iqbal said Islam considers making accusations without evidence and damaging someone’s honour a serious sin.
Referring to verses from Surah An-Nur, she said everyone will be held accountable and that justice will eventually prevail.
What did Nasir Madni do?
Previously, in a viral sermon clip, Nasir Madni questioned the credibility of Momina Iqbal’s allegations.
He said the allegations cannot be viewed separately if one person had been receiving benefits from another over a long period of time.
Additionally, he reportedly mentioned financial support, mobile phones and other gifts. He suggested that there was a broader context behind the allegations, as per the reports.

In recent weeks, Momina Iqbal approached the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) against Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar over allegations of cyber harassment, threats and blackmail, after which a case was also registered against her under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
