The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh alert in different parts of the country about weather conditions.
According to the department rainfall is expected in some parts over the next few days while temperatures in some parts of the country may continue to remain above normal. Citizens have been advised to undertake precautionary measures in view of the change of weather conditions.
The department said that weather conditions are likely to change in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from March 6 to March 11.
During this period scattered rain with thunderstorm is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra and Abbottabad. In some places it may rain lightly or moderately accompanied by powerful winds. Cloud cover is likely to be higher in mountainous areas which could have the temporary effect of staying cooler.
Similarly partly cloudy weather has been forecasted for Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir where intermittent rain with thunderstorm is also expected. The Meteorological Department has advised people living in mountainous areas to take precautionary measures as it may rain and increase the risk of landslides in regions.
A change in weather is also expected in the federal capital Islamabad and its surroundings. According to the report rain is also likely in Pothohar Plateau, Murree and Galiyat.
Thunderstorms may take place at some spots which may be pleasant to the weather. Tourists traveling to Murree and Galiyat have been similarly advised to be up to date about the weather conditions.
On the other hand the Meteorological Department has warned that temperatures in plains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could go higher than normal.
Temperatures in these regions will increase by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius. Similarly a number of cities in Sindh and Balochistan may also experience more heat with temperatures likely to continue to be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than normal.
