US President Donald Trump said he is not interested in negotiating with Iran and raised the possibility that the Iran war would only end once Tehran no longer has a functioning military or any remaining leadership in power.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday, Trump said the air campaign could make negotiations a moot point if all potential leaders of Iran are killed and the Iranian military is destroyed.
“At some point, I don’t think there will be anybody left maybe to say ‘We surrender,'” Trump said.
Saudi Arabia issues warning to Iran if attacks continue amid US Iran war
Saudi Arabia has informed Iran that, although it supports a diplomatic resolution to war with the United States and Israel, ongoing assaults on the kingdom and its energy sector may compel Riyadh to retaliate accordingly.
This communication was made before a speech on Saturday in which Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed regret to neighboring Gulf nations for Tehran’s actions.
Just two days prior, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan engaged in discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, clearly expressing Riyadh’s stance, according to sources.
The Minister further stated that Saudi Arabia is receptive to any mediation efforts aimed at de-escalation and achieving a negotiated resolution.
He also emphasised that neither Riyadh nor other Gulf nations have allowed the US to utilise their airspace or territory for launching airstrikes against Iran.
However, Prince Faisal stated that should Iranian assaults on Saudi territory or energy infrastructure continue, Saudi Arabia would be compelled to allow US forces to operate from their bases for military actions.
He indicated that Riyadh would respond if attacks on the kingdom’s vital energy facilities persisted, as per the sources.
The sources further indicate that the kingdom has maintained regular communication with Tehran through its ambassador since the commencement of the US and Israeli military operations against Iran last week.
The foreign ministries of Saudi Arabia and Iran have not yet responded to requests for comments.
Trump says Iran surrenders to neighbouring countries
Earlier, United States President Donald Trump stated that Iran has surrendered to its neighboring nations following the US-Israel military strikes. On February 28, the US and Israel initiated assaults on Iran.
During the US-Israel war, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Syed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed.
In retaliation for the Supreme Leader’s death, Iran conducted attacks on US military installations in Gulf nations, including Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and the UAE.
Nevertheless, Tehran declared today that it will refrain from targeting its neighboring countries amid US Iran war.
Following this announcement from Iran, US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, “Iran, which is being beaten to HELL, has apologised and surrendered to its Middle East neighbors, promising that it will not attack them any longer.
This commitment was made solely due to the unyielding US-Israel strikes.”
