The Pakistan government has relaxed regulations for overseas Pakistanis, allowing them to bring vehicles into the country more easily under the gift scheme.
Millions of Pakistanis live and work abroad and many of them wish to send vehicles to their families back home. However strict regulations previously made the process complicated for those trying to import cars as gifts.
Under the revised policy the condition requiring the vehicle to be pre-registered in the name of the sender has been abolished. This means overseas Pakistanis can now send cars as gifts from any country without the earlier registration requirement.
Officials say the change is expected to simplify the vehicle import process and make it significantly easier for overseas Pakistanis to arrange car gifts for their relatives in Pakistan.
