Repatriation of Pakistani citizens from Iran via Taftan accelerated

Amid the tense situation in Iran, Pakistani authorities have accelerated efforts to bring back citizens through border crossings in Balochistan, particularly at Taftan and Gabd Ramdan.

According to government officials, more than 3,200 Pakistani citizens have returned from Iran over the past ten days, with students making up a significant portion of those arriving back in the country.

Officials said the return process is being managed through the main entry points at Taftan and Gabd Ramdan, where authorities are facilitating the safe movement of citizens amid the ongoing regional tensions.

Meanwhile, Naqibullah Kakar, Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar, said 106 Pakistani citizens, including 15 students, reached Gwadar from Chabahar via the Gabd Ramdan border crossing on Tuesday. He added that five Iranian citizens also entered Pakistan through the same route.

A federal government official said the group arriving through Taftan also included 190 Iranian drivers and 13 other Iranian citizens. The Iranian drivers typically transport freight vehicles from Iran to Taftan, unload the goods on the Pakistani side, and then return.

It confirmed that t 78 Iranian nationals have entered Pakistan during this period. In addition, one Chinese citizen, two British nationals, two Canadians and 16 citizens from other countries have also crossed into Pakistan.
Officials viewed that border management and screening procedures are continuing as the government monitors the situation and facilitates the safe return of citizens.
