‘Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia,’ PM Shehbaz tells Mohammed bin Salman

The Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, in his meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, said that Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia.

PM Shehbaz met Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah on Friday, according to the press release issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The meeting took place at the royal court and included a restricted session between the two leaders.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, were also present.

Officials said the discussions focused on regional developments and cooperation between the two countries.

Message of goodwill to Saudi leadership

At the start of the meeting, the PM conveyed greetings and good wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

According to the statement, he also expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Pakistan.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have long maintained close political, economic and security ties.

Saudi Arabia is one of Pakistan’s key partners in the Middle East and has provided financial and economic support to the country in the past.

Talks on regional situation

During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on recent developments in the region.

The Prime Minister’s Office said both sides discussed the need to work together for peace and stability in the Middle East and surrounding regions.

The PM also conveyed Pakistan’s support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia during what the statement described as a challenging time for the region.

Commitment to long-standing partnership

The statement said the prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to stand alongside Saudi Arabia and support efforts aimed at maintaining stability in the region.

Officials did not provide further details about specific issues discussed during the talks.

The meeting forms part of ongoing contacts between the leadership of the two countries, which regularly coordinate on regional and international matters.
