Serena Williams returns to Wimbledon for the first time in 10 years

Serena Williams and her sister, Venus, have said yes to a Wimbledon doubles wild card, returning to the international tennis stage.

The famous tennis sisters are joining Wimbledon as a doubles team. The tournament is set to begin on June 29, 2026.

It is important to note that the sisters together won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and four Olympic gold medals, they never lost a Grand Slam doubles final.

Wimbledon became one of their most successful venues. They claimed doubles titles at the All England Club in 2000, 2002, 2008, 2009, 2012, and 2016.

Their dominant display of power, athleticism, and teamwork often scared opponents even before the matches started.

For many tennis fans, some of the most memorable Wimbledon moments in the last 25 years show the Williams sisters standing together with another trophy.

Serena Williams has not joined the tennis court professionally since 2022 and has on many occasions, talked about enjoying life outside of playing tennis full time.

Her sister, Venus, on the other hand, has continued to compete selectively while remaining a popular figure in professional tennis.

The development comes after Serena Williams made a successful comeback to competitive tennis after nearly four years away, helping to secure a straight-sets doubles win at Queen’s Club in London.

The 44-year-old former world number one teamed up with Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko to beat the third seeds Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar-Martinez.
