Pakistan is set to host two ITF W15 women’s tournaments in Islamabad from October 5, 2026, in a significant step towards promoting women’s tennis and strengthening preparations for the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup.

The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) revealed the prize money of both the tournaments as $15,000 each.

It will be the first time Pakistan’s home soil will be witnessing two back-to-back ITF Women’s Futures events giving local players a rare chance to play at an international level on home turf.

The move is part of a wider push for more opportunities for females and to improve the standard of women’s tennis in the country, the federation said.

The tournaments will allow Pakistani players to receive international ranking points and also provide them with a competitive experience without having to move overseas for the tournament.

President PTF Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said that the federation had already laid a solid groundwork for male players in the ITF Men’s Futures tournaments and was now looking at establishing such a platform for the women.

The events would not only aid the development of players but also enable Pakistan’s top female players to get ready for international tournaments like Billie Jean King Cup, he added.

The tournaments will also benefit some of Pakistan’s best women players such as Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab, Soha Ali, Romaisa Malik, Bismal Zia, Meheq Khokhar, Zainab Ali Raja, Zunaisha Noor, Fatima Ali Raja and other emerging talents.

The Pakistan Women’s Tennis Association (PWTA), which was formed in 2024, is also aiding in the effort.

Asma Khawar Khawaja, President of the board of directors, stated that the events would help in the development of women’s tennis and would further boost the country’s international tennis image.
