The instant messaging application WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to share Instagram Reels directly in WhatsApp chats.

According to reports, the feature will introduce a separate Reels shortcut in WhatsApp’s media-sharing menu, enabling users to easily share videos they have watched on Instagram. To use this, users will need to link their WhatsApp accounts to Meta’s Accounts Centre.

With the new shortcut, users will no longer need to open their mobile phone galleries or switch to another application to share videos. Instead, they will be able to access Instagram Reels directly within WhatsApp chats.

However, not all Instagram Reels will be available through this feature. It will primarily include videos that users have recently watched or liked.

The aim of the feature is to make sharing Instagram videos with friends, family members and groups faster and more convenient.

The feature is currently being rolled out for WhatsApp Android beta version 2.26.42.9. However, the company has not announced an official date for its final release.
