The globally popular messaging app WhatsApp is adding yet another new function that will make things easier for its users and save their time.
A particular button or option will be introduced in the app, which will let users send a ‘Share my location’ request link straight to another person, without typing any text, as per media reports.
This new feature, according to a popular technology news site, was uncovered in the technical analysis of the APK file for WhatsApp’s newest Android beta release (v2.26.41.11).
In testing, the feature was turned on and off and confirmed as functioning during testing. However, the feature might be incomplete now and META might be trying to complete it.
Current Location Sharing: If you wish to share where you are with someone currently, you can use the map to share your current or live location.
If you’re interested in knowing where the other person is, you will need to send a text message asking them to provide it.
However, after the new feature, this traditional process of location sharing will end.
A new feature under location sharing is called ‘Request Location’. A special location card will be created as soon as someone clicks it, and sent to the other person’s chat window.
The primary function of this feature is to keep the conversations shorter, easier and simpler. The function is still in its testing and development phase and has yet to be announced with a formal release date.
