No plan to relocate Imran Khan, says journalist Muneeb Farooq

Muneeb Farooq Imran Khan

Senior journalist Muneeb Farooq has dismissed reports claiming that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is being shifted to another location, stating that such claims are baseless.

In a video message, Muneeb Farooq said there is no truth to speculation regarding any relocation of Imran Khan. He clarified that the former prime minister is a convicted individual and any relief granted to him would come only through the courts.

The journalist further stated that Imran Khan is still facing multiple cases and remains under trial in several matters that more convictions are possible as legal proceedings continue.

He said that there has been no policy change and no shift in the state’s position regarding the PTI founder and that the situation remains the same as before with no “game change” or alteration in approach.

IHC orders establishment of new medical board for Imran Khan

In a separate development, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) a day earlier ordered that Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf founding chairman Imran Khan be provided a medical checkup and a new medical board should be formed in this regard.

A two-member bench of IHC, comprising Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro, conducted the hearing of a petition seeking the transfer of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital.

The court ordered the formation of the new medical board, which should consist of Imran Khan’s personal physicians, Dr Arif and Dr Nadeem Qureshi.

The court also ordered that the family be informed of the development in accordance with the jail manual.

Earlier, the court had reserved the judgement in the case.

Earlier, the defense counsel Sardar Latif Khosa had presented a report in court, detailing Khan’s medical examinations at the Adiala Jail hospital and two subsequent visits to PIMS for treatment.

At the outset, Advocate General Islamabad informed the court that the jail superintendent’s report had been received. The court, however, noted that the report should have been shared with the opposing counsel earlier.
