Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) warned that the party will not accept any negligence regarding the health of its jailed founder and former prime minister Imran Khan. They said the party is ready to launch a major nationwide movement to demand his release.
PTI leaders expressed serious concern during a press conference at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House on Friday. They said Imran Khan’s health is getting worse and demanded that authorities immediately shift him to Shifa International Hospital for specialised medical treatment.
They also said that Imran Khan remains one of the most popular and widely supported leaders in the country.
What does CM Sohail Afridi say?
Sohail Afridi, Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, spoke to the media along with other senior party leaders. He strongly criticised the federal government and accused it of acting irresponsibly regarding the health of the PTI founder. He also said the cases against him are politically motivated.
He said Imran Khan is not an ordinary citizen but a former prime minister of Pakistan, and the government has both a legal and moral duty to ensure he receives proper medical care.
Afridi also criticised the government for not allowing access to Imran Khan’s personal doctors and family members. He said this action violates basic human rights and legal rules. He warned that the party will not tolerate such behaviour and is ready to launch a large movement for the PTI founder’s release.
However, he added that the party has temporarily slowed its political activities out of respect for the holy month of Ramadan, but its preparations and determination remain strong.
