Pakistan Railways has decided to run four special trains for passengers on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr 2026 at the direction of Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi.

According to a notification issued on Sunday, the first Eid special train will leave Lahore for Karachi on March 16.
The second special train will depart from Quetta for Rawalpindi on March 17. The third train will leave Karachi for Peshawar on the same day.
The fourth Eid special train will run from Karachi to Lahore on March 18.
Pakistan Railways said the special trains are being operated to provide better travel facilities to passengers during the Eid holidays.

Earlier, Hanif Abbasi said the government plans to run special trains and offer fare discounts during Eid ul Fitr so people can travel easily to celebrate the festival with their families.
Railway stations across Pakistan usually see a large increase in passengers during Eid holidays.
Thousands of people travel from major cities to their hometowns every year. This makes it one of the busiest times for Pakistan Railways.
Eid ul Fitr in Pakistan is expected around March 21, 2026, depending on the sighting of the moon.

During an interview with The Pakistan Connect, the minister said preparations for Eid travel are already underway, and special arrangements are being planned.
He said, “Absolutely. So, on Eid-ul-Fitr, on the last Eid, I was here as a minister. So, even then, on the special instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, we drove special trains.”
Further, he added, “And then, in the last few days, the three days of Eid, we also gave discounts. This time also, Inshallah, we will drive special trains.”
“And at this time, the trust of the people in the Railway is increasing. You must have seen that the number of our passengers has increased,” the minister said
”Our freight has increased. So, seeing all these things, Inshallah, we will facilitate people on Eid, so that people can celebrate Eid with their loved ones”, he added.
