Peshawar Zalmi have bolstered their squad by signing Bangladeshi left-arm fast bowler Sharaful Islam ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The franchise announced the development on social media, unveiling the pacer in Zalmi’s jersey and expressing confidence that his inclusion will strengthen the team’s bowling attack.
Since making his international debut in 2021, Sharaful Islam has established himself as a key member of the Bangladesh national side.
The 23-year-old has featured in 14 Test matches, 40 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 69 T20 Internationals (T20Is), showcasing his versatility across formats. His addition is expected to provide depth and experience to Zalmi’s pace unit as they gear up for the upcoming PSL season.
He also has significant experience in T20 cricket, having taken 195 wickets in 156 matches. His performances in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) have been outstanding, and he is regarded as one of the leading wicket-takers in the tournament’s history.
The upcoming edition of the PSL will be held from March 26 to May 3, and this will mark Sharaful Islam’s first appearance in the league.
Earlier, Zalmi also added emerging left-arm fast bowler Muhammad Basit to their squad to further strengthen the team. Zalmi will begin their campaign against Punjab on March 28 at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium.
PSL 11 schedule
The 39-day tournament will run from March 26 to May 3 and will include 44 matches.
Along with the six existing franchises, two new teams have been added this season: Pindiz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen.
According to the schedule, each team will play 10 matches in the group stage. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.
The final will be played at Gaddafi Stadium on May 3. May 4 has been kept as a reserve day for the final if needed.
This year’s tournament will include six doubleheader match days. Three of them are scheduled at Gaddafi Stadium.
Matches will be held in six cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Peshawar.
