The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) says it will maintain a steady electricity supply during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, aiming to avoid disruptions.

In a statement, IESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood said the company had completed preparations to ensure continuous power.

He said the arrangements were intended to help residents celebrate Eid without facing outages.

Ramzan performance

The company pointed to its recent performance during the holy month of Ramzan, when it said electricity supply remained uninterrupted, particularly during Sehr and Iftar hours.

Mr Mahmood said this reflected IESCO’s efforts to improve service and respond to consumer needs.

He also acknowledged the work of staff, noting they continued their duties while observing fasts.

Monitoring and complaints

IESCO said special monitoring rooms have been set up to oversee the system during the holiday period.

Complaint offices will also remain open around the clock to handle any issues reported by consumers.

To coordinate operations, Chief Engineer Distribution Zahid Saleem Usmani has been appointed as the focal person during Eid.

He will supervise supply arrangements and respond to any technical problems.

The company said the combined measures are aimed at keeping the system stable and addressing faults quickly if they arise.

Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the busiest times of the year for electricity demand, as households host gatherings and increase usage.

IESCO said its plan is designed to manage this demand while maintaining reliable service.

Eid-ul-Fitr announced in KP

Eid ul-Fitr has been announced for Friday in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), but not everywhere.

In Mardan, local authorities said Eid will be celebrated on Friday after receiving at least 17 testimonies of moon sighting.

However, the earlier announcement was later withdrawn, and it was decided that Ramzan will complete 30 days, with Eid ul-Fitr now to be observed on Saturday.

Similarly, in Tehsil Kakki in Bannu, reports say Eid has also been announced for Friday based on 22 testimonies.

However, in Peshawar, the local Ruet-e-Hilal Committee did not accept the sightings.

After a meeting, it was decided that Eid will be celebrated on Saturday instead.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has also officially announced that the moon was not sighted anywhere in the country, and that Eid ul-Fitr will be observed on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
