Senate panel warns of gas shortage in Pakistan after April 14

Sui Southern Gas Company has issued a special gas supply schedule for Eid 2026.

According to a spokesperson, gas supply will be available on Chand Raat, allowing households to prepare for Eid without any disruption. The company confirmed that gas will remain available throughout all three days of Eid.

However, under load management measures, gas supply will be suspended daily from 12:00am to 6:00am during the Eid holidays.

The utility further stated that uninterrupted gas will be provided from Chand Raat until midnight leading into the first day of Eid. On the second and third days, gas will be available from 6:00am until 12:00am (midnight), enabling consumers to carry out their daily cooking and other needs smoothly.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a stable gas system while facilitating both domestic and commercial users during peak Eid demand.

On the other hand, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) said it will maintain a steady electricity supply during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, aiming to avoid disruptions.

In a statement, IESCO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Chaudhry Khalid Mahmood said the company had completed preparations to ensure continuous power.

He said the arrangements were intended to help residents celebrate Eid without facing outages.

Ramzan performance

The company pointed to its recent performance during the holy month of Ramzan, when it said electricity supply remained uninterrupted, particularly during Sehr and Iftar hours.

Mr Mahmood said this reflected IESCO’s efforts to improve service and respond to consumer needs.

He also acknowledged the work of staff, noting they continued their duties while observing fasts.
