US President Donald Trump has defended his policy on Iran as his critics have criticised him for not being tough enough on Tehran.

The criticism was met with a rejection by Trump, who called those who doubted his policy “jealous,” “bad people” or simply “stupid.”

On his social media site Truth Social, Trump stated that indicators of success were the economy, including the performance of the stock market and the drop in oil prices.

“These fools, who think I haven’t been tough enough on Iran, when the Stock Market Just Hit A RECORD HIGH, and Oil prices are ‘tumbling’ down, are either jealous, bad people, or stupid,” he wrote.

Trump’s comments were made after some US policymakers asked whether the recent memorandum of understanding with Tehran offered sufficient benefits for the US.

Critics said that the agreement should have shown more benefits for the United States.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the signing of the historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran with Pakistan as a mediator.

Shehbaz Sharif signed the document “as a facilitator and a witness of the diplomatic process,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The MoU was digitally signed by President of the United States of America Donald J. Trump and President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian.

The agreement is a big step towards development of peace, the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced earlier in a post on the social media platform X.

He expressed his happiness that he has been given an opportunity to announce the electronic signing of the “historic Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting Pakistan’s contribution in making progress in diplomatic engagements between the two countries.
