Pakistan Day was marked with patriotic enthusiasm at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
Saad Ahmed Warraich, Chargé d’Affaires, hoisted the national flag at the Chancery Lawn. Messages from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read out during the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Warraich said the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940, was a defining milestone in the struggle of Muslims of the subcontinent for a separate homeland.
He added that under the leadership of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, this collective movement culminated in the establishment of Pakistan within a short span of seven years.
Paying tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Movement, he said their great sacrifices serve as a guiding light for the nation in safeguarding the precious gift of freedom and striving sincerely for the country’s development and prosperity.
Commenting on the regional situation, Warraich said that present-day India reflects the rise of Hindutva, which he described as a manifestation of the foresight of the subcontinent’s Muslim leadership.
He emphasised that history teaches that only those nations remain truly free that are capable of defending their independence.
Warraich said that the ongoing struggle for truth has renewed the nation’s collective resolve to defend the homeland, adding that the world bears witness to Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and freedom.
Appreciating the role of the country’s armed forces, he said that Pakistan’s deterrence capability contributes to stability in South Asia and serves as a guarantee of regional peace.
He further stated that peaceful relations between Pakistan and India can only be established based on equality, mutual respect, and the peaceful resolution of all outstanding disputes.
Warraich concluded that lasting peace and stability in South Asia can only be achieved through a just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
