In a striking display of solidarity and celebration, Pakistan’s national flag lit up the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, on the occasion of Pakistan Day.
The iconic skyscraper in Dubai shimmered in green and white, proudly showcasing the crescent and star as part of the commemorations marking March 23.
The tribute drew attention from visitors and residents alike, many of whom gathered around the Downtown Dubai area to witness the spectacle.
Pakistan Day commemorates the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940, which laid the foundation for the creation of an independent homeland for Muslims of the subcontinent. The illumination of the Burj Khalifa has become a symbolic gesture in recent years, reflecting the strong ties between the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan.
Social media platforms were flooded with photos and videos of the illuminated tower, with users expressing pride and appreciation for the international recognition of the national day.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Day was marked with patriotic enthusiasm at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
Saad Ahmed Warraich, Chargé d’Affaires, hoisted the national flag at the Chancery Lawn. Messages from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read out during the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Warraich said the Lahore Resolution of March 23, 1940, was a defining milestone in the struggle of Muslims of the subcontinent for a separate homeland.
He added that under the leadership of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, this collective movement culminated in the establishment of Pakistan within a short span of seven years.
