PMD predicts rain across Pakistan from March 24 to 30

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted widespread rain and thunderstorms across the country from March 24 to 30.

In a statement, the Met Office said a western disturbance is expected to enter the southwestern parts of Balochistan on Monday evening.

The system is likely to strengthen from the night of March 27, 2026, and may continue until March 31, 2026.

Rain expected in Balochistan, Punjab

Under the system, several areas of Balochistan, including Gwadar, Turbat, Khuzdar and Quetta, are likely to receive rain and thunderstorms, with some heavy falls and isolated hailstorms between March 24-25 and again from March 27-29.

In Punjab, cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan are expected to see rain, wind and thunderstorms between 25–26 March and again from 28–30 March.

Similar conditions are forecast for Murree, the Galiyat region and Islamabad.

KP and northern areas

Rain and thunderstorms, including some heavy falls, are also expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) areas such as Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad and Chitral, which are likely to be affected from March 25 night into March 26, with another spell from March 28-30.

Hailstorms are possible in isolated locations.

In Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, similar weather is forecast during the same periods, with occasional heavy rain and hailstorms in some areas.

Sindh and coastal areas

Parts of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur, may receive rain and thunderstorms on March 25-26 and again between March 28-29.

Flood and crop warnings

The Met Office has warned of possible flash flooding in parts of Balochistan between March 25 and 28 and in local areas of KP from March 28 to 30.

Officials also said strong winds and hailstorms could damage standing crops in Punjab, KP and Sindh.

Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures in line with the weather forecast.
