Punjab: PSCA surveillance systems prove successful in making arrests

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), on Wednesday successfully traced and arrested suspects linked to several robbery incidents in Hasan Abdal, utilising its sophisticated surveillance systems and coordinated efforts.

A spokesperson for the PSCA reported that the suspects were attempting to escape from Islamabad towards Taxila after executing the robberies, frequently changing their vehicle’s registration number in an effort to avoid capture.

A Virtual Patrolling Officer stationed at Smart Safe City Taxila recognised the suspicious vehicle, flagged it in the system, and commenced ongoing surveillance through the integrated Safe City camera network.

While monitoring, the vehicle’s trajectory was tracked towards Hasan Abdal, calling for immediate communication with Smart Safe City Hasan Abdal.

The AI-driven surveillance systems effectively located the vehicle, facilitating immediate intervention by the PSCA.

In response to alerts from the Virtual Patrolling Officer, police units from Taxila and Hasan Abdal established checkpoints and successfully intercepted the vehicle.

The suspects were arrested at the scene, and a case was filed, with further legal actions in progress.

The spokesperson further encouraged citizens to report any suspicious behavior by calling Emergency Helpline 15 to ensure a swift police response, emphasising that the PSCA is dedicated to upholding public safety through advanced technology and collaborative operations.
