The Punjab government has announced major initiatives to promote agricultural development. More than 20,000 Green Tractors have so far been distributed among farmers, while the supply of an additional 10,000 tractors has also begun.

Under the government’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz High-Tech Mechanisation Financing Program, farmers will be provided with wheat and rice combine harvesters. They will also be able to obtain high-power tractors and other modern agricultural machinery on easy terms.

A total of Rs30 billion in loans is being provided to farmers and service providers under this program.

Additionally, 5,000 Super Seeders have already been distributed among farmers at a cost of Rs4 billion. The use of rice super seeders will reduce the need to burn crop residues, helping to curb smog.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that farmers in Punjab are being guided toward modern farming through mechanisation. She added that agricultural mechanisation will not only reduce production costs but also significantly increase per-acre yield.

She urged farmers to abandon traditional and outdated methods and adopt modern agricultural machinery.

Launched in 2025, the Green Tractor Scheme aims to make modern tractors more accessible. Additionally, to promote mechanisation across the province.
