The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE) in Pakistan has pointed out that there is a legal avenue for skilled Pakistani workers to get jobs and residency in Germany, which is still facing a shortage of labour force in various sectors of the economy.
The opportunity is open for qualified foreign professionals who fulfil the requirements of education, professional training and employment in Germany, said the Bureau.
Applicants for Pakistan should have a recognised technical, vocational or professional qualification.
All the qualifications received in Pakistan should be officially recognised in Germany or be equivalent to the German standard.
One of the most important conditions is to obtain a valid job offer from a German employer prior to applying for a residence permit.
The job advertised should be directly connected with qualifications, professional training or recognised qualifications acquired by the applicant.
This is not available for unskilled or assistant positions.
The Bureau also indicated that there are some regulated professions, such as healthcare jobs, which have other requirements.
Doctors, nurses and other health professionals might have to ask for official recognition, licensing or approval from appropriate German authorities to be able to work.
In these situations, having a degree or professional certificate may not be enough.
The officials explained that the skilled worker residence permit is not a new visa scheme but a legal pathway for immigration and it is not for Pakistani citizens in particular.
The announcement also doesn’t contain details of specific job postings, salary packages or application deadlines.
The Bureau recommended that interested applicants check the status of their qualifications and employment offers before starting the process.
It also advised job seekers to use official channels for jobs and avoid intermediaries who might offer fake jobs and visas.
