The Punjab provincial government has taken an important decision regarding the weekly Friday holiday on Thursday.
According to the notification, offices across the province will remain open partially. The important staff will also be called in on Friday.
Previously, the government had issued a notification for a complete holiday across the province, keeping in mind the austerity measures.
The Economic Monitoring Committee recommended against fully closing offices on Friday, according to the reports.
The committee members argued that if holidays were given on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, more people would travel. Additionally, if people travel more due to the holidays, more fuel will be consumed.
The committee accepted the proposal to open offices partially on Friday.
Reopening date announced for Punjab schools
The Punjab Minister of Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has made an important announcement regarding the reopening date of schools in the province on Wednesday.
On his social media platform X’s account, the minister announced that the schools will reopen from April 1, 2026.

The Education Minister of Punjab, Rana Sikander Hayat, announced on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, that school holidays are not being extended as of now.
He further asked everyone to avoid fake news, on Wednesday.
