PSL 11: Quetta Gladiators opt to field first vs Karachi Kings

In the second match of the Pakistan Super League season 11, Karachi Kings defeated Quetta Gladiators by 14 runs.

In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium, Quetta Gladiators, chasing a target of 182, managed to score 167 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted overs. Earlier, Karachi Kings had given a target of 182 runs to Quetta Gladiators.

The match, played at Gaddafi Stadium, saw Karachi Kings batting first and scoring 181 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted overs. Moeen Ali played a lightning-fast innings of 48 runs off 29 balls, while captain David Warner contributed a solid 35 runs.

Saad Baig was dismissed for 30 runs, Salman Ali Agha scored 22, wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan made 14, and Khushdil Shah managed 12 runs.

Ahmed Daniyal took three wickets for Quetta Gladiators, Alzari Joseph claimed two, while Usman Tariq and Abrar Ahmed picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and opted to field against Karachi Kings. At Gaddafi Stadium, Quetta Gladiators captain Saud Shakeel won the toss and chose to have David Warner’s XI bat first.

Quetta Gladiators captain Saud Shakeel said, “We have decided to bowl first. I think it will be sunny at the start, and dew will appear later, which is why we chose to bowl first.”

He added that this is his second season as captain and that he is quite satisfied. ‘I am used to playing for Quetta Gladiators; this is my third consecutive year, so I am happy.

He also mentioned the team’s bowling strategy: ‘Both our spinners are playing. They are our main bowlers, and we are relying on them and expecting a strong performance.”

David Warner said he is very happy to continue leading the Karachi Kings and hopes to perform even better this time.

All-rounder Moeen Ali stated that the Karachi Kings have a strong lineup of all-rounders and that Pakistan’s T20 captain, Salman Agha, is also part of the team.

It is worth noting that in the first match of the PSL, the Lahore Qalandars easily defeated the Hyderabad Kingsmen by 69 runs.
