In another incident highlighting Karachi’s ongoing street crime, three armed men on a motorbike allegedly boarded a college bus parked outside Jinnah Medical and Dental College and robbed female students before fleeing.
The incident occurred within the limits of the New Town police station. Bus driver Abdur Rehman filed a case.
According to the FIR, the bus was parked near the college’s parking area when the suspects arrived and entered it. The situation suggests the suspects may have been watching the bus, as it runs on the same route daily.
The FIR states that the three armed men carried out the robbery easily and targeted three female students. They snatched a gold chain from one student after checking her and took mobile phones from two others.
One of the students also reported that the suspects took her purse, which contained around Rs8,000 in cash.
According to the complaint, one suspect wore a mask and also used a cap during the robbery. The driver told police that all three suspects were between 25 and 30 years old and arrived on a single motorbike.
After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene. The driver stated in the FIR that he can identify them if he sees them again.
Police recorded statements from all three affected students and gathered details of the incident. Officials said they are trying to obtain CCTV footage from the area to trace the suspects.
So far, no CCTV footage of the incident has appeared, and the investigation has made little progress despite the case being registered.
The way the suspects reportedly arrived on a single motorbike, boarded the bus, carried out the robbery, and escaped without being caught has raised new concerns about security and law enforcement in the area.
