The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) have confirmed that 5G service is not yet available on iPhone and Samsung smartphones in Pakistan, reports suggest on Tuesday.
Carrier configuration for 5G on these devices cannot be activated without approval from Apple and Samsung, the reports add.
According to reports, Apple and Samsung have not yet added Pakistan to their “country whitelisting” for 5G.
Mobile companies activate 5G on their phones only after approving each country’s network internationally.
The reports added that technical approval between mobile companies and network operators is still underway.
The PTA is in contact with telecom operators, Apple, and Samsung administration.
Once Pakistan is whitelisted, 5G service will automatically become active on all compatible smartphones.
Reports have said that 5G on Apple and Samsung devices in Pakistan will be available soon.
How to check if your phone supports 5G
To access 5G, you need a device that supports both 5G technology and the correct network bands.
Here’s how to check if your phone supports 5G.
Check your phone name
Start with the easiest check:
- Many Android phones include “5G” in their name, like Samsung Galaxy A52S 5G
- If it says “4G”, it likely does not support 5G
However, this method is not reliable in all cases. Try the following as well.
Check phone settings
This is the most direct way to confirm if your hone supportd 5G.
First, open the settings, then tap network & internet or connections. Then select the mobile network and look for ‘Preferred Network Type / Network Mode’
If you see 5G / 4G / 3G or 5G Auto or 5G Only, then our phone supports 5G.
If you only see ‘4G / LTE’ or lower, then your phone does NOT support 5G.
5G services officially launched in multiple cities
