The authorities of Saudi Arabia have warned the vehicle owners not to release the final exit visa.
Foreign residents planning to leave Saudi Arabia permanently on a final exit visa must ensure that no vehicle is registered in their name, according to the latest guidance.
Authorities say a final exit visa will not be issued if an applicant still owns a registered vehicle.
How to remove a vehicle from your name?
Residents who intend to sell their vehicle must transfer ownership to the new buyer. This can be done through the Absher platform or an authorised car showroom.
Before the transfer can be completed, the vehicle must have a valid inspection and active insurance.
If the vehicle is old or no longer roadworthy, owners can hand it over to a registered scrap yard. Once the scrapping process is complete, the vehicle’s registration can be permanently cancelled through the Absher platform.
Authorities have also advised residents to pay all outstanding traffic fines before transferring or scrapping a vehicle.
If any fines remain unpaid, the vehicle cannot be transferred or deregistered, preventing the completion of the final exit visa process.
Once the vehicle has been fully removed from the applicant’s record, they will become eligible to obtain a final exit visa.
