Scream 8 is reportedly under development, following the unexpected box office success of Scream 7 with the film crossing $200 million globally.
According to Deadline, Spyglass is currently engaged in the production of Scream 8, with Poker Face co-showrunners Lilla and Nora Zuckerman assigned to write the script.
Earlier this month, Kevin Williamson, the writer and director of Scream 7, disclosed that Neve Campbell had already thought of a “great” idea for Scream 8, which he assured would be produced provided that Scream 7 achieved commercial success.
Scream 7 grossed over $200 million at the worldwide box office, establishing a new record for the franchise.
The original Scream film earned $173 million globally from theaters in 1996, not accounting for inflation.
Starting on Tuesday, March 31 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which corresponds to March 30, at 9 p.m. Pacific Time), Scream 7 will be available for digital purchase on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and other platforms.
Currently, Scream 7 is not available for streaming on any subscription-based services; however, it is expected to soon be available for streaming on Paramount+, as it is a Paramount film.
