The Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah has officially introduced the e-passport service for overseas Pakistanis, which provides enhanced security, biometric verification, and expedited immigration processing.
A spokesperson stated that this initiative will grant Pakistanis residing abroad access to contemporary travel documents.
The e-passport incorporates laser-printed information and microchip technology, rendering it more secure and current. Additionally, it features various security measures to mitigate the risk of forgery and data theft.
Officials indicated that the launch of e-passports will streamline and simplify the immigration process for Pakistanis.
The upgraded security features, which comply with international standards, will further bolster the safety of Pakistani passports.
Overseas Pakistanis can now directly acquire e-passport services from the Pakistan Consulate in Jeddah.
Saudi Arabia announces extension of validity of visas
Earlier, Saudi Arabia announced an extension in the validity of visas for Pakistani nationals and other foreign visitors who were unable to leave the Kingdom due to ongoing regional situation.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior of Saudi Arabia confirmed that all types of visas, including visit, Umrah, transit, and final exit, that expired on or after February 25, 2026, will now remain valid until April 18, 2026.
The relief is expected to assist travellers stranded amid the current regional situation, which has impacted air travel.
