‘Deeply grateful to Pakistan and have never refused to visit Pakistan’: Iranian Foreign Minister

Iranian Foreign Minister

Iranian Foreign Minister (FM) Seyed Abbas Araghchi has called for “an end to the illegal war that is imposed on the country”.

In a post on X, the Iranian foreign minister said, “Iran’s position is being misrepresented by US media. We are deeply grateful to Pakistan for its efforts and have never refused to go to Islamabad. What we care about are the terms of a conclusive and lasting END to the illegal war that is imposed on us.”

In response, FM Ishaq Dar said, “Truly appreciate your clarification, my Dear Brother.”

US-Israeli attacks on Iran

At least 206 attacks were launched against Iran on Thursday and Friday, killing at least one civilian, according to a tally by the US-based group Human Rights Activists in Iran.

The attacks hit 13 provinces during 24 hours.

According to a tally by the rights group, US-Israeli attacks have killed 1,607 civilians, 1,213 military personnel, and 711 people whose military status is unknown, since the start of the war on February 28.

Pakistan has taken an increasingly active role in international diplomacy amid the month‑long war in the Middle East, which began after US and Israeli strikes on Iran. Reports say the conflict has widened tensions across the region, drawing in several nations and causing international concern.

During the talks, officials are focusing on ways to reduce hostilities and explore diplomatic avenues to bring both sides to the negotiating table. Pakistan has positioned itself as a mediator in the crisis, helping relay indirect messages between the United States and Iran in hopes of fostering dialogue and encouraging a ceasefire.
