Gulberg Town Karachi has announced a “Taleem Card” for students to support their education expenses. Under this program, 5,000 students will receive Rs10,000 each.
The announcement was made during a special ceremony. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Gulberg Town and the Pakistan International Business Forum, which will support the program.
What is Taleem Card
Through this card, students will be able to buy books, stationery, uniforms, and other important school items at the start of the academic year.
The facility will be available only for students living in Federal B Area.
The event was attended by Gulberg Town Chairman Nusratullah, PIBF Central President Mushtaq Mangat, Karachi President Sohail Aziz, “Mera Brand Pakistan” Coordinator Aamir Rafiq, and Muhammad Babar Khan, along with members of the business community.
Get Rs50,000 stipend
Separately, the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has selected 1,700 fresh engineering graduates for its Graduate Engineer Trainee Placement Program, which offers a monthly stipend of Rs50,000 and six months of training in different industries across the country.
The selection was completed through a digital balloting process for the second batch of the program.
The ceremony was held at the PEC Regional Office in Lahore. Chairman PEC Waseem Nazir started the process. Senior officials and members also joined the event online.
Graduate Engineer Trainee Placement Program
The program is fully funded by PEC. It lasts for six months. It includes five months of field training and one month of skill development.
Participants will receive a monthly stipend of Rs50,000. After completing the program, they will get a certificate with QR code verification.
A total of 5,300 candidates applied for the program. Out of these people, 3,982 candidates were shortlisted after screening.
From the shortlisted candidates, 1,700 were selected through digital balloting.
PEC officials said the program is being run through online portals for both employers and engineers.
The council has also partnered with public and private sector organisations to provide proper industry training.
Out of the total seats, 300 were reserved for graduates from Balochistan. All these seats have been filled.
The remaining 1,400 people were selected from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit Baltistan (GB).
Chairman Waseem Nazir said the special quota for Balochistan is expected to give more opportunities to youth from the province.
He further said it will help reduce social and economic gaps and support their role in the national workforce.
Additionally, he said the program will help young engineers gain practical skills. He added that PEC is focused on merit, transparency, and equal opportunity for all regions.
He also said that supporting fresh graduates will help improve Pakistan’s engineering sector and support national development.
