New spell of heavy rain and hail is expected in most districts of Punjab including Rawalpindi from tonight which is likely to continue till April 8.
According to PDMA, rainfall is forecast in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Khushab and Mandi Bahauddin.
Rain is also expected in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas, with heavier showers likely in the Dera Ghazi Khan division.
PDMA Punjab DG Irfan Ali Kathia has issued alerts to all commissioners and deputy commissioners, urging people to stay in safe locations.
He advised avoiding open areas during lightning and for farmers to consider weather conditions in their agricultural activities.
Tourists in northern areas are also advised to take precautions. In emergencies, PDMA’s helpline 1129 can be contacted.
Rain expected in Karachi
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in Karachi on Monday as a westerly weather system enters the region.
According to the Met Office, the system has entered Balochistan, bringing wind-thunderstorms, rain, and isolated heavy falls along with hailstorms to Sukkur, Kashmore, and Ghotki districts on Monday.
The report further stated that light to moderate thunderstorms and rain are also likely in several districts, including Jamshoro, Dadu, Kambar Shahdadkot, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Matiari, Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, and Karachi Division.
The weather department warned that strong winds, hailstorms, and lightning could damage vulnerable structures such as electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels.
