Iranian President accepts invitation to come to Pakistan for peace talks

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephonic contact with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday, with both sides agreeing to advance peace efforts.

According to prime minister office, the Iranian president confirmed participation in proposed negotiations in Islamabad later this week.

The development comes after Pakistan offered to host talks between Iran and the United States amid rising tensions.

During the 45-minute conversation, the prime minister appreciated Tehran’s decision to agree to a ceasefire. He termed it a “wise step” towards de-escalation. He also conveyed respects to Iran’s supreme leadership.

President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its diplomatic outreach. He acknowledged Islamabad’s role in facilitating a temporary ceasefire. He also extended good wishes for the people of Pakistan.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif posted on his social media platform X about the recent peace deal between the US and Iran.

He said, “With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.”

Further talking about the Islamabad talks, he added, “We earnestly hope that the ‘Islamabad Talks’ succeed in achieving sustainable peace and wish to share more good news in the coming days!”

PM Shehbaz said that both parties have displayed remarkable wisdom and understanding and have remained constructively engaged in furthering the cause of peace and stability.

US President Donald Trump

The US President, Donald Trump, announced a ceasefire for two weeks. There will be no strikes in Iran for 14 days, said the US President.

In his post on Truth Social, Trump said that based on the conversation held with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks.

Iran accepts ceasefire

The Islamic Republic of Iran has also reportedly accepted the offer of a two-week ceasefire.

A post on X said that Iran accepted the ceasefire deal after China persuaded it.

The post said, “A last-minute push by China helped persuade Iran to accept Pakistan’s two-week ceasefire proposal, with the truce ultimately approved by Mojtaba Khamenei, according to NYT, citing three Iranian officials.”

Reacting to the ceasefire, the world praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and CDF Field Marshal Asim Munir’s role, saving the lives of innocent humans and global economies.
